Connection, Collaboration, and Lobster: A Week with the FlowCam Team

Stronger Together: The FlowCam Team in Southern Maine

Last week, the FlowCam team gathered in Southern Maine: a time dedicated to connection, collaboration, and celebration. With remote employees joining, this gathering was a rare and meaningful opportunity to step away from our daily routines and spend time together in person.

From the very first day, the energy was palpable. People were excited to reconnect with familiar faces, welcome new ones, and strengthen the bonds that make our team so effective. While we collaborate every day across screens and time zones, there’s nothing quite like being in the same room to share ideas, laughter, and of course, a good meal.

Collaboration at the Core

The week featured dedicated sessions for brainstorming, cross-department discussions, and knowledge sharing. These conversations gave us space to reflect on recent accomplishments, explore new ways to support our customers, and exchange ideas for the future. Collaboration has always been central to FlowCam, and this gathering reinforced how valuable it is to step back from the day-to-day to focus on shared goals.

By working together across teams, we’re better equipped to create meaningful solutions for the scientific community. The open dialogue throughout the week underscored the strength of our collective expertise and the importance of maintaining a culture where ideas can flow freely.

Celebrating Our Team

Of course, no gathering is complete without time to celebrate. Over the course of the week, we enjoyed plenty of great food together—from casual lunches to departmental dinners, all leading up to a full-team lobster bake.

The highlight came when we boarded a ferry to Peaks Island in Casco Bay. Just a short ride from Portland, the island is a quintessential Maine destination and the perfect backdrop for a classic lobster feast. Longtime Mainers on our team gave lessons in the fine art of shelling and savoring a freshly steamed lobster, and afterward we hopped aboard a fleet of golf carts to explore the island. With the ocean breeze, delicious food, and time spent outdoors together, it was a memorable way to cap off the week and reflect on the connections that make our work possible.

Looking Ahead

As we return to our regular schedules, the energy and inspiration from this gathering come with us. At FlowCam, we’re proud of our culture of support, curiosity, and teamwork, and this week was a chance to celebrate exactly that.

We head into September with full hearts, stronger connections, and a renewed sense of purpose. The collaboration we strengthen with each other directly impacts how we serve our customers, and we’re excited to carry that momentum forward. Here’s to the people behind FlowCam—and to many more opportunities to connect, collaborate, and celebrate together.
