Optical Systems Engineer

About the Role:

Our engineering team is growing, and we are seeking an Optical Systems Engineer to augment our product development program around our flow imaging microscopy platforms. The role will focus on both new product development and continuous improvements of Yokogawa Fluid Imaging’s current instrumentation suite.

The Optical Systems Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and will have the support of our experienced, diverse engineering team. The preferred candidate will be a skilled Optical Systems Engineer with 5+ years’ experience who has impeccable attention to detail and a focus on system design.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Optical and illumination design for microscopy, Zemax preferred
• Performance testing of optical systems
• Image processing

Education Level:

• M.S. in a relevant engineering discipline with 10+ years of professional experience. PhD preferred.

Experience and Technical Requirements:

• Product Design and Development Experience
  • Developing prototype designs into volume commercial products
  • Design of experiments, verification and validation procedure drafting

Software Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a Software Engineer to play a crucial role in delivering safe, reliable, compliant, and performant software for our suite of Flow Imaging Microscopes.

The software engineer participates in the full software lifecycle process. Projects assigned will include developing software, finding and fixing bugs in existing software, participating in design and code reviews, developing test scripts, and executing verification tests on newly developed or updated software.

The ideal candidate will have high attention to detail, with a drive to deliver high-quality, maintainable software.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in all phases of product development from requirements definition to product release and maintenance in collaboration with scientists and instrumentation engineers
• Collaborate with the development team to ensure that products are designed and created with the highest quality standards
• Generate design and code documentation for new and existing code to ensure the quality and maintainability of software
• Identify, isolate, and resolve instrument and software failures

Education Level:

As a Field Service Engineer, you will join a dynamic team with the mission to provide world-class FlowCam support and service to our diverse customer base.  You will be traveling approximately 50% to customer sites for installations, training, and service of our portfolio of FlowCam instruments. You will be interacting daily with our sales, engineering, software, manufacturing, and marketing teams, as well as our international partners.

Manufacturing Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join us full-time on our FlowCam product manufacturing line in our Scarborough, Maine headquarters. The Manufacturing Technician will be assembling and testing components and sub-assemblies for our high-tech flow imaging microscopy instruments as well as providing troubleshooting and technical assistance to other team members.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assembling optical and mechanical subassemblies to finished product level
• Load computer operating system and configure network settings and peripheral components
• Install VisualSpreadsheet software and configure instrument operating parameters
• Perform optical alignment for camera and laser systems
• Operate electronic test and soldering equipment
• Read and follow process instructions, schematics, and mechanical drawings

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associates Degree preferred

Experience and Technical Requirements:

• 2-4 years of experience in equivalent field
• Solid software abilities: MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook proficiency necessary
