Marketing Director

About the Role:

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Marketing Director will lead the global marketing and product strategy for Yokogawa Fluid Imaging Technologies’ full product portfolio. This role is central to shaping the future direction of the business, ensuring profitable growth, and bringing winning products to market.

The Marketing Director will foster strong collaboration between Marketing and Sales to build and execute a strategic marketing plan, product and application roadmap, and customer-focused communications that drive sales. This leader will be responsible for translating market insights into actionable strategies that elevate our brand, expand our reach, grow revenue, and strengthen our competitive position.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation—preferably from an instrumentation or life sciences company—and a deep expertise in the industries we serve, including pharmaceutical development, marine sciences, water research, and environmental monitoring. A passion for understanding and meeting customer needs is essential.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategy execution, strategic marketing, and communications aligned with the corporate objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, customer experience, and sales team insights to shape effective marketing strategies.
  • Drive growth initiatives and product positioning in evolving global markets.
  • Lead by driving collaboration cross-functionally to ensure achievement of corporate goals while demonstrating core values that include respect, value creation, collaboration, integrity, and gratitude.
  • Develop innovative strategies to attract new customers and expand market share.
  • Meet or exceed all assigned KPI metrics and maintain alignment with corporate business objectives as outlined in the annual business plan and strategic vision.
  • Manage department budgets and resource planning.
  • Manage the Applications Lab, including sample analysis.
  • Direct ongoing improvements to our world-class FlowCam training program, including FlowCam University and creating new training opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the recruiting, mentoring, and professional development of all members of the Marketing team to ensure we are building a world-class organization.
  • Conduct performance reviews and resolve performance issues.
  • Immediately report concerns regarding the health, safety, or welfare of individuals.

Work Environment:

  • General office setting with some work expected in the analytical lab
  • Location: In-person at our headquarters in Scarborough, Maine
  • Travel requirements: Approximately 25% travel (domestic and international)

Education Level:

  • Ph.D. degree in science preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in Life Science required

Experience and Technical Requirements:

  • 10+ years of life science/biotech/pharmaceutical, and/or aquatics industry experience
  • Demonstrated broad and deep understanding of scientific instrumentation and market segments in the life science industries
  • Proven ability to develop and execute business plans within a commercial scientific instrumentation or related market
  • A demonstrated capacity for strategic planning, as well as tactical implementation
  • Proven ability to lead collaboration and accept and incorporate new ideas into strategies
  • Proficient marketing analytics experience
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing campaigns, including SEO
  • Strong technical acumen and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong technical writing experience
  • Strong presentation skills, both in-person and virtual
  • Proficient project management skills
  • Proven record of successful product management

Managerial Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience creating and leading high-performing teams

Physical Requirements:

This position involves working in and moving around an office environment. It involves extensive use of computers and telephones in an environment with some background noise. It involves substantial communication with employees, corporate partners, customers, visitors, vendors, contractors, and others. On occasion, work outside of regular business hours may be required. With or without reasonable accommodation, able to:

  • Work in an office environment
  • Use telecommunication tools
  • Lift an instrument (up to 50 lbs)
