Quality & Supply Chain Manager

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly capable Quality & Supply Chain Manager to lead and integrate product quality, supplier performance, and operational systems across our organization. This role is responsible for ensuring world-class quality standards for FlowCam instrumentation while building strong supplier partnerships and driving continuous improvement—particularly through ERP automation and data-driven processes.

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role that connects engineering, operations, service, and suppliers to ensure reliability, scalability, and customer trust.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Quality Leadership

  • Own and lead the company-wide quality management system (QMS), ensuring compliance with ISO standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive a culture of quality across all functions, from product design through manufacturing, delivery, and service.
  • Establish and monitor key quality metrics (e.g., yield, defects, field performance, customer complaints) and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Lead root cause analysis and structured problem-solving efforts (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma methodologies).
  • Partner with engineering on design-for-quality and reliability improvements for FlowCam products.
  • Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring continuous readiness and improvement.

2. Supply Chain & Supplier Management

  • Build and manage strategic supplier relationships, focusing on quality, reliability, cost, and scalability.
  • Develop supplier performance scorecards and lead regular business reviews.
  • Partner with procurement and operations to ensure alignment on sourcing strategies and risk management.
  • Lead supplier qualification, audits, and development initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in incoming quality, lead times, and supplier responsiveness.
  • Mitigate supply chain risks through proactive planning and dual sourcing where appropriate.

3. Systems & ERP Optimization

  • Lead initiatives to improve and automate quality and supply chain processes within the ERP system.
  • Partner with IT and operations teams to enhance data integrity, traceability, and workflow efficiency.
  • Drive adoption of digital tools for:
    • Nonconformance tracking
    • Supplier quality management
    • Inventory and production visibility
  • Develop dashboards and reporting systems to provide real-time insights into quality and supply performance.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and integration across ERP, CRM, and manufacturing systems.

4. Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Champion lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Identify systemic inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions.
  • Support cross-functional process improvement efforts in production, service, and customer experience.
  • Lead initiatives to improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance product reliability.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise staff; manage the performance of the quality and supply chain team.
  • Develop hiring profiles, interview, and make hiring recommendations.
  • Coach, grow, mentor, and develop the quality and supply chain team.
  • Identify and support professional development needs and/or goals and seek strategies to address them.
  • Performance management: conduct performance reviews and resolve performance issues.
  • Immediately report concerns regarding the health, safety, or welfare of individuals or coworkers; resolve conflicts and establish a sense of team within the unit.

Experience and Technical Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, preferably in Engineering, with 10+ years of professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive quality engineering and/or supply chain experience.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership in a global quality organization.
  • Strong experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar), including process improvement or implementation
  • Expertise in root cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and quality standards relevant to analytical instrumentation manufacturing or related devices.
  • A growth mindset approach, with a track record for understanding changing methodologies that will yield continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with Lean and Six Sigma experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Certified Quality Manager certification is a plus.
  • At least 5+ years of managerial experience.

Work Environment:

The work area is a general office environment with regular time spent in a production and laboratory setting (located at Yokogawa Fluid Imaging's headquarters in Scarborough, Maine).

Travel may be required from time to time to attend offsite training and make customer and supplier visits.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires working in and moving around an office environment. It involves extensive use of computer and telephone in an environment with some background noise. It involves substantial communication with employees, corporate partners, customers, visitors, vendors, contractors, and others. On occasion, work outside of regular business hours may be required. With or without reasonable accommodations, the position will be able to:

  • Work in an office environment
  • Use telecommunication tools
  • Lift an instrument (up to 50 lbs)
