Speakers
Savannah Stresser, Aquatics Business Development Manager
Leah Gibala-Smith, Marine Aquatics Sales Manager

Duration: 30 minutes

Shellfish hatchery managers, technicians, and researchers use microscopes every day. However, counting larvae and inspecting algae by hand is time-consuming, which limits throughput. Producing data in a quick and standardized way is important for informed hatchery decision-making and expanding research capabilities.

High-speed flow imaging microscopy with FlowCam captures thousands of images per minute, allowing hatcheries to produce data in less time. In addition to speeding the process from hours to minutes, FlowCam helps shellfish hatcheries and researchers standardize and build capacity—all while producing a database of images of every sample for future reference.

This webinar begins with an overview of how FlowCam works, followed by examples of how hatcheries use FlowCam to quickly and reliably count, measure, and classify organisms in a standardized, high-throughput way.

Applications include: microalgae, eggs, larvae, and harmful algal blooms.
