What to Expect:
Flow imaging has emerged as an essential tool for characterizing subvisible particles, with its full value extending well beyond routine analysis. This talk will present real-world applications that demonstrate how flow imaging with FlowCam can strengthen product understanding, improve development decisions, and accelerate investigations.
First, strategies for generating intentional positive controls will be explored to model relevant particle types and failure modes. These controls provide a practical framework for evaluating method performance, refining detection sensitivity, and contextualizing particle morphology in complex samples.
Second, we will discuss how flow imaging can be leveraged to support device compatibility and device selection. Case examples will highlight how particle data can differentiate device-related contributions, inform material compatibility risks, and guide cross-functional alignment between formulation, device, and quality teams.
Finally, a structured approach for utilizing flow imaging during troubleshooting and investigations will be reviewed. Emphasis will be placed on integrating flow imaging data with orthogonal methods, recognizing meaningful morphological data, and distinguishing true product issues from process or handling-related artifacts.
